Care & Cleaning

Tips for maintaining and caring

All Manifattura VALOR products are made from sustainable natural materials. In order to preserve the unique properties and natural functions of the materials, special attention should be paid to the handling and care of our products - so that our products become your loyal companions for years to come.

If you follow the following care instructions, your products should preserve their natural functions overtime and evolve their own individual charm through usage.

Blankets and coats for horses and dogs

Our hand-woven woolen fabrics are traditionally worked. Since the wool fiber is a natural hair, the product also “reacts” to certain influences after it has been worked. Maintain your blanket and coat as follows:

1

Store the product only in well aerared and dry rooms. Do not store a still damp blanket folded or crumpled after use as prolonged storage may result in mold spores.

2

Try to avoid washing the blanket as ever possible. If you can not avoid washing, minimize the washing or cleaning process to at most once a year, otherwise the natural positive properties of the wool can be lost. When washing with conventional detergents, the wool fiber can be damaged and thus change the surface and shape of the blanket.

3

Simply pat the dried dirt off. In most cases, this is the gentlest way to remove dirt on woolen fabrics.

4

In case of heavy stains, clean the fabric partly with cold water only and some organic wool detergent, without rubbing or brushing the surface too much.

5

When washing in the washing machine, be sure to always wrap the blanket in a linen or cotton bag to prevent damage to your machine. Metal fittings can also be damaged when washing in the washing machine.

6

Wool products must always be washed in the very gentle wool washing program and should be cleaned in this way only once a year.

7

After washing or using, dry the blanket slowly and do not expose the blanket to direct sunlight during the drying process.

8

Do not expose the blanket to any hot water vapor.

9

Fur elements such as e.g. fur collars may only be cleaned by professional fur cleaning and must always be separated from the blankets for cleaning.

10

For leather elements on blankets or coats, the instructions for the leather care must be followed.

Saddle pads

The main material for our saddle pads is crafted in a completely natural way. It is mechanically felted with an over one hundred years old technique and consists of 100% pure virgin wool. Since wool felt is a natural material, the product “reacts” to certain influences, such as moisture and heat, even after the mechanical manufacturing process. This is a great advantage when used on the horse, as the pad over time adapts to the individual shape of the horse's back. In case of incorrect cleaning this property of the material can also lead to loss of shape of the product. Therefore, treat and clean your saddle pad as follows:

1

Store the product only in well aerared and dry rooms.

2

Do not store a still damp pad folded or crumpled after use as prolonged storage may result in mold spores.

3

Try to avoid washing the pad as much as possible. When washing with conventional detergents, the wool fiber can be damaged and thus change the surface and shape of the pad.

4

Simply pat the dried dirt off. In most cases, this is the gentlest way to remove dirt on woolen fabrics.

5

In case of heavy stains, clean the fabric partly with cold water only and some organic wool detergent, without rubbing or brushing the surface too much.

6

Do not wash the blanket in the washing machine. It can lose its shape and the surface can be damaged. Please use our VALOR Cleaning Essence and follow the instructions on the paper tag.

7

After use or cleaning, dry the pad slowly and do not expose the pad to direct sunlight during the drying process.

8

Do not expose the pad to hot steam.

Halters, collars and leashes

Manifattura VALOR’s halters, collars and leashes are made from a combination of deerskin and cowhide. Our traditionally tanned deerskin from Germany is extremely soft, cuddly and particularly breathable. Therefore, this material is often processed where the product rests directly on the skin. To avoid damaging the surface of the leather, please follow the care instructions below:

1

Always store the product in a well aerared and dry room after use.

2

Never store damp products in a closed container. Mold spores can develop here.

3

We recommend patting the dried dirt off carefully. This is the gentlest way to clean the product. You can also carefully brush off the dried dirt with a soft brush suitable for leather.

4

If unavoidable, gently clean the leather with a damp, lint-free cloth or with a suitable leather cleaner. Never put the products under running water and do not leave them in water or soak them.

5

Never use hot water to clean the leather.

6

After use or cleaning, dry the wet product slowly (this may take several days) and do not expose the product to direct sunlight during the drying process. Do not dry the product in the immediate vicinity of radiators or other heat sources.

7

Always use leather care products that are suitable for the particular type of leather to keep the material soft and supple and to prevent breakage and cracks.
